PHP Editor Editor's Review
PHP, like many other programming or markup languages on your computer, only needs a basic text editing program to be written. For the most basic PHP scripts or webpages, the inbuilt applications are often perfectly fine applications as they allow you to write out basic code easily. When, however, you are constructing long code or pages, and you start to encounter errors, then you will need a dedicated error.
Unlike professional-grade software, PHP Editor does not feature a WYSIWYG editor, and so you cannot design your pages live. It does, however, feature an inbuilt browser, so you can test the pages as you work, but not create them live.
Pro's: Freeware and infinitely better than inbuilt applications.
Con's: No WYSIWYG functionality.
Conclusion: PHP Editor is a great application if you are starting to play around with PHP or one of the other syntax based languages, but don’t want to invest a lot of money in one go, at one of the professional packages.
